RIDE FOR AMERICA SPONSORSHIP
To give you some history and information on our fundraiser run “Ride For America”. I started this ride to help our veterans and military that were coming home and/or coping with the war and suffering from having missing limbs. This was a big heartbreak for me to see them receive a Purple Heart and then be forgotten about. The trauma that these soldiers have to deal with knowing they may never walk again or hold their wife or children saddened me. So I thought I would ride for those who can’t. I started organizing this ride and came across so many different organizations that need our help and every little bit counts. So my mission every June is to ride for those who have given their lives or have sacrificed for our country. I’m a veteran of two years from the U.S. Army, and in those two years I experienced some trauma as well but not nearly as much as these veterans or wounded warriors that I raise money for. I could not even imagine the trauma and struggles they face on a daily basis. So I’m asking for your help and your support in helping me and my other riders to make their lives just a little bit easier by donating to our cause.
This will be our second year in doing this ride. This ride helps raise money for our veterans, military and wounded warriors that have sacrificed for our country and protected and fought for our freedom. Ride For America is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 and had our first successful run in 2011. Our first run was new but still successful. Our sponsors helped us tremendously last year in purchasing t-shirts to help with the fundraiser. We raised $1300.00. I find this outstanding for a last minute run. We raised money for our Wounded Warrior Rusty Dunagan and his family. He is our 23rd surviving triple amputee since the Vietnam War. Rusty sacrificed a lot to serve his country and funds came from all over to give to Rusty. We had very little time to raise this money but this year we are hoping to get more sponsors and with more organization get more people involved. We have also made him a member of our National Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. All money from our sponsors goes to the cause and the supplies to organize the ride as in T-shirts and the bandanna’s and then to our chosen program.
We would like to add you to our sponsor list for the 2012 Ride For America Run. We will start our run June 16-28, 2012. All sponsors will be added to the t-shirts and/or banners depending on the level of sponsorship packet you select. Last year we sold over 300 shirts and 60 bandannas. At Hawg Lakes in 2011 we sold 168 t-shirts and over half of our bandannas to bikers at this local rally. We are hoping to double that this year. T-shirts are a great way to get your business name out in the public eye and advertise. This is also a great way to show the community you are a supporter of our veterans and military. The Oklahoma Confederation of Clubs (COC) are collecting names and putting out a roster of businesses that support our members of the COC and help with our fundraisers and we would like for you to be known for as one of the businesses that support your local bikers and our causes. We travel all over the United States to raise money for our causes. We have a lot of different Riding Clubs in our COC and we are always looking for biker friendly businesses to purchase items for our bikes.
Our selection this year run will be the Patriot Paws Program. The Patriot Paws program is a women’s prison that trains these dogs for 2-3 years and the dogs are donated to disabled veterans and wounded warriors. This list is long and the money is short. These dogs can cost from 20 to 30 thousand dollars. The more money we raise for this program the more of our American Heroes are able to receive one of these service dogs. The inmates are strictly selected to participate in this program. Not only is this program helping the veterans, its also helping rehabilitate the women in the prison. This program has a high success rate in the women not returning to the prison and also is a great way to rehabilitate them to return to society.
I’ve researched this program and find it to be a great program not only for our veterans but also for the rehabilitation for the women in the prison system and our community. The community has frowned upon felons/convicts and we must be able to get them back into the community with support and the community must be aware of these programs to show their support to our rehabilitated convicts, women and men. There are very little chances for them to get jobs and or get back in school if they are convicted felons and I believe this to be unfair in some cases.
In 2009 and 2010, I organized 23 successful fundraisers and we donated all funds to the non-profit veteran associations in our community. I’m also the President a member of the Board of Directors in the National Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. http://nationalcvma.com. Although this fundraiser is not part of the National Combat Veterans M.A. (NCVMA), I still would like to use you in the future as a sponsor for some of our runs for the NCVMA or keep you and your establishment for business for products, sponsorship and/or a stop for our runs.
Thank you and I appreciate your time and your consideration.
